Launching new free course: Storytelling
October 16th 2013Communicating effectively with facts sheets, power points or Storytelling?
Frogleaps helps professionals achieve green change by providing free e-learning courses. The new course Storytelling for conservation action is now available.
CEC as first partner of Frogleaps asked for the course Storytelling. It is a tool in the CEC campaign ‘how to tell a love story about nature’. In this campaign CEC wants to promote the idea of a positive approach in which emotions play the main role instead of facts and figures. This is especially important when reaching out to the general public.
To give a first impetus to the CEC campaign, five CEC members from different continents contributed a story of their campaign to Frogleaps, using the principles promoted in this CEC campaign: humanize, personalize and publicize nature. The challenge now is to multiply the number of such campaign stories as an IUCN CEC contribution to Aichi Target 1. Check out their stories!
Based on two surveys among CEC members and the interaction with a number of key experts on storytelling in conservation campaigns, Frits Hesselink and Peter Paul van Kempen developed the course. They use one central case to showcase the techniques of storytelling. And they offer examples from all continents to show that storytelling works in different cultural contexts.
